At the time of writing, UsedLens covered over 60 UK retailers. The next logical step was expanding to Europe and the United States, and we wanted input on which retailers and countries to prioritise.
The planned approach was: automatic country detection based on your location, a manual country selector, localised search results, the ability to expand a search to Europe or Worldwide, and country-specific shipping filters.
International expansion turned out to be more complex than UK-only coverage — shipping policies vary by retailer, currency handling adds complexity, and affiliate relationships differ by market. We ultimately took the decision to focus on the UK market and do that well, rather than spread too thin. See the later post on removing US and European support for the full reasoning.
